It was almost a year ago I found myself sitting behind a desk 12-14 hours a day, five days a week. I also found myself fighting four to five migraines a week; staring at a computer, having very little work/life balance, tons of stress, and the mismanagement of medications to combat the migraines were all contributing factors. I was finally told what I knew, but needed to hear; "You need to make a serious life change." And so, with a lot of prayer, A LOT of family encouragement, and some very quick business moves...David and I moved our dream of owning our own antique shop up by about 10 years in about three weeks.
On opening day, my sister, Terri, presented me with a framed picture, which sits proudly in the shop…"Anything is possible if you've got enough nerve." Since November, this phrase has become my motto...I can't begin to count the number of times I have fallen back to this.
In the nine short months that Still River Days Antiques has been open we have celebrated the holidays, made it through a blizzard, held our grand opening in the coldest/rainiest May I can remember, moved from a 900 sq ft store to a 2000 sq ft store, reached 1,000 followers on Facebook, and have made some AWESOME friends with some FANTASTIC customers!!...And are now moving into the world of Instagram, Twitter, and the web! WHEW!
My migraines are now back to baseline, the new store is on week four….and we are LOVING this life in New Market, VA!
We want to say THANK YOU for your support and friendship! It means the world to us!
